A sponsor of social, scientific, and dialogue-enhancing projects. A source of support for economically disadvantaged individuals and families. A publisher of a diverse series of monographs. This is the Vontobel Foundation.
As a grant-making foundation, the Vontobel Foundation provides financial support to projects undertaken by charitable Swiss institutions in the areas of social welfare, culture and society, nature and science. Funding is also provided to disadvantaged individuals, families, and students. Additionally, the Foundation publishes a series of in-depth monographs that address current and fundamental issues, contributing to political, social, economic, and cultural discussions. The Foundation was established in 1993 by private banker Dr. Hans Vontobel (1916–2016). He contributed a package of Vontobel shares, which, together with subsequent donations made by his son Dr. Hans-Dieter Vontobel, forms the core of the Foundation's capital. The Vontobel Foundation is subject to the supervision of the Office for Occupational Pensions and Foundations of the Canton of Zurich.
