Hans Vontobel Prize for Agricultural Sciences at ETH Zurich
The Hans Vontobel Prize recognizes research work that leads to outstanding findings in the field of agricultural sciences.
Over thirty years ago, Dr. Hans Vontobel (1916-2016), the founder of the Vontobel Foundation, established the Hans Vontobel Prize to support young scientists in the field of agricultural sciences. He was convinced of the tremendous relevance of agricultural sciences in ensuring the preservation of nature and the well-being of animals and humans in the face of increasing food requirements.
By providing an incentive that can make a real difference, the prize improves the chances that the agricultural sector will keep pace with the food needs of a growing world population. It thus promotes a culture of performance and can open many doors for the prize winners.
An overview of past prize winners and their award-winning works can be found at the following link: https://www.ias.ethz.ch/de/studium/hans-vontobel-preis.html.
The prize is awarded annually, usually in the amount of CHF 10,000.

"To win the Hans Vontobel Prize is a great honor for our students, demonstrating an enormous appreciation of their agricultural research."
Prof. Hubert Pausch, Agricultural Sciences delegate to the Hans Vontobel Prize Committee, ETH Zurich
"The world urgently needs innovative and sustainable solutions from agricultural science for the conservation of nature and the welfare of humans and animals."
Nicole von Däniken-Wettergren, Board Member of the Vontobel Foundation
